"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

"He will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'" (Matthew 25:44,45)

"Aware of this, Jesus said to them, 'Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. 12 When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.'" (Matthew 26:10-13)

These verses challenge us to put our faith and love into action. We express our faith through loving God and loving others, sharing with them a portion of the blessings that we have received. We may live out these verses by seeking to comfort the poor or to pour out an offering before the Lord.

We might raise objections about feeling strapped for time, money, or energy, but God consistently shows that those who give generously will have enough. Proverbs 11:25 teaches us that: "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."

Do you find yourself wondering how to begin to live out these verses today? I have found that we will find the right motivation when we reflect on the greatness of God and His complete worthiness to receive all praise, honor, and glory. When we stop to see His beauty and majesty, every gift that we would give back to Him comes more freely.

Lord God, thank You for being completely worthy of our praise, honor, and glory. Help us to see the many opportunities that You provide to serve as a blessing in the lives of others or to bring an offering to You. Give us the strength to live out our faith and to proclaim Your character through our lives. In Jesus's Name, amen.
