April 29

Luke 24:13-53

Could you imagine meeting someone on the street today and having them ask why is everyone wearing a mask and gloves? Why are there tape marks 6 feet apart in the stores, and why are people acting so weird?  You then begin to explain life as it has unfolded over the past few months, wondering all along what rock this person has been hiding under. Granted in this day and age, it's a far fetched scenario but sometimes, like the disciples, we get so caught up in the events around us and our own agenda we miss the presence of God who is always with us. The disciples were walking and talking with Jesus and were unaware that it was him until the Lord caught their attention by breaking bread with them. It was in their reflection of the event that they recalled their hearts burning within them while He was speaking with them on the road. The only way we will recognize God's continued presence with us amidst all the craziness around us is by carving out time just to be in His presence and experiencing how he touches each of our hearts individually. When nothing else matters except recognizing the presence of the Lord, everything else, at least for a moment, will be still. Lord I pray our hearts burn as the disciples' did when they were in your presence. I pray Lord we recognize you as we go about our day.
