  1. I'm testing this blog out.
I'll try this comment: I don't understand why God destroyed all the animals with the flood - the humans were the problem..why destroy all else living on the earth. This story reminds me of a kid that gets mad at a couple of toys, and turns his whole room into a mess!

  2. Why kill the animals?

The seriousness of sin is revealed in these verses. Sin had become so predominant in the world that God said he was going to wipe mankind out. The animals did nothing wrong they were not under judgment but they died as an inevitable consequence of the judgment on earth.
It is estimated that almost 45,000 animals could have fit in the ark. This shows God mercy to his original plan for the animals.
In Jonah 4:11 God says to Jonah.... But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?"
God is also mentioned to care for the birds of the field in Matthew 7.
We do not understand why so many had to face judgment. But the lesson to us is that sin does have consequences both for our lives and others.

Great question. This is the best I can do to understand the plan of God.
