A Prayer Of Gratitude For And Surrender To The Gift Of The Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10-15)

Lord I thank you for the gift of your spirit and what that gift means to us.  I thank you that you did not leave us to discern the truths of your word on our own and with mere human understanding but with the guidance from your spirit, who has access to you and all your wisdom.  Lord I ask that you help us not to take this gift for granted or to let it go unused.  May we, daily, remember to spend time reading your word and asking and seeking the wisdom and understanding that your spirit can give us.  Open up our hearts and minds to see the truths in your word and to apply them to our lives so that we may be a beacon of light, a beacon of your truths to others.  Lord if we have questions about what we read help us to remember that we can ask you for help to give us understanding and then guidance to know how to apply those answers to our lives and our relationship with you.  Help us to surrender ourselves, our finite understanding, our misguided ways to you so that your spirit may pour in to us that which we need in order to live a life where your glory and purpose is exalted and not our own.  Lord as we read your word today I ask that your spirit would give us a word of wisdom, instruction, truth or encouragement not just for ourselves but also something we might be able share with someone we encounter in our day.  What a blessing and honor it is to have been given such a gift to help us and to guide us in your word and truth.  May we each truly experience the gracious gift of your spirit today.

AMEN
