1 Corinthians 4

In verse 14 of this chapter Paul urges the people of Corinth to imitate him. I don't think Paul wanted anyone to imitate him per say, I think he wanted them to imitate the Paul that imitated Christ.  What does that mean, and what does that look like? Christ was a servant and at the beginning of this passage Paul refers to himself and everyone else who has been entrusted with the secret things of God (v.1), as servants.  Just like Jesus, as a faithful servant, Paul walked close to God, spent time in His word and in prayer and was aware of God's presence. He lived the life Jesus came here to teach. He and Timothy were faithful servants.(v.17).  We too are called to be faithful in all we say and do. We have been entrusted with the secret things of God.  We too, are servants. The way we keep our promises, fulfill our obligations, and serve even when it costs us, are all tell tale signs that we take seriously our message that God Himself is faithful.  If others don't see faithfulness in us and the way we live our lives, they are less likely to believe in a faithful God who they can't even see. So I pray for all of us today that as we get ready to go about our busy day, above everything else we will do, we remember who we are and Whose we are.
