1 Kings 7
Acts 7:30-50
Psalm 128:1-6
Proverbs 16:31-33

Acts 7:40
They told Aaron, "Make us gods who can lead us, for we don't know what has become of this Moses, who brought us out of Egypt."

The Israelites lost faith in Moses as their leader. They forgot about all that God had done for them and commanded them to do. So they took matters into their own hands. They made themselves a god that they thought would be better for them.

Stephen was filled with the Holy Spirit and there were those who did not like what he had to say. He challenged the high council for disobeying God and for not listening to the Messiah He sent. Instead of listening to Stephen and repenting of their ways, they killed him.

Not much has changed since the time of Moses. Not much has changed since the time of Stephen. We still look to anywhere other than God for directions when times are tough. We still resist whenever we are confronted with our own sinfulness.

The good news is there is still hope. Despite their unfaithfulness, God still remained faithful to the Israelites. Despite their stubbornness, God did not give up on the people who stoned Stephen (especially one named Saul). We can break this cycle of running from God instead of running to Him. Pray to Him that He will help you remember. He will always be patient and He will always be faithful.
