January 18th

In today's reading, we read about "the dreamer." Joseph had been given a gift for dreams, and the interpretation of them. God spoke to Joseph through them. But, Joseph, being young and naive, bragged about two of his dreams to his brothers. They hated him for it. What amazes me is how God works through all of this. Joseph is sold off by his brothers to traders, who in turn, sell him to the captain of the guard in Egypt. Joseph's ability to interpret dreams will come in handy while he is in Egypt, and will eventually land him in a position of power. What I mean by God works through all this is, even though his brothers intended to do evil to him, this betrayal will eventually save his family. What man intended for evil, God intended for good. We will see the conclusion of this saga in the coming readings, and it's a good one. God uses situations. We see this all throughout the Bible. God used Joseph in his situation, He used Moses, He used Rahab, He used Bathsheba, He used Paul. What situation has God put you in? Maybe it is a job, a family, or even a specific situation that God has given you? God wants to use us in situations that He has planned out for us. We need to allow Him to work, and do His will in those situations. We need to be praying that God would show us His will in those situations, and give us the words to speak, and the actions to take.
