Psalm 111, 130, 131, 141, 146

Travis and I watched a documentary this week called Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed (which I highly recommend). It examines the issue that the academic and scientific community allows no room for debate when it comes to evolution. According to them, evolution is a fact and any one who questions that fact is a fool. Scientist after scientist stated on camera that there is no evidence that God exists, therefore, He does not. We are all a product of billions of years of random events and changes. Richard Dawkins (one of the most well-known evolutionary biologists and an atheist) was asked what he would say if when he dies he finds that God is real. He said he would ask Him this: why did you take such pains to hide yourself? I find myself feeling very sorry for Mr. Dawkins because one day he will come face to face with God and I doubt he will have the confidence or the ability to ask such a question of Him.

As I read Psalm 111, I know that God has not hidden Himself from us:
Great are the works of the Lord;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.
He has shown his people the power of his works,
giving them the lands of other nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are steadfast for ever and ever,
done in faithfulness and uprightness.
He provided redemptions for his people;
he ordained his covenant forever --
holy and awesome is his name.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belong eternal praise.

We are not the product of random events. We were created by a loving and powerful God who wants nothing more than to be in a right relationship with us! The evidence of His existence is all around us. My prayer is that God will soften the hearts of those who are so set against Him. My hope is that their eyes will be opened and they will experience the joy of knowing Him.
