February 6th

Hello citizens of the Holy Nation, members of the Royal Priesthood, possessions of God.  How did you do this past week declaring the praises of Him who brought you out of darkness into His wonderful light? (1 Peter 2:9)
This week's passage is a reminder of what you; members of the Royal priesthood have been called to be a part of.  We read in today's passage what the tribe of Levi was assigned to do, what the royal priesthood's tasks were to be.  They were in charge of the care and maintenance of the temple as well as the spiritual needs of the nation according to God's word.  We are still called to this same task today:
Ephesians 4:7 & 11-13
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
We are charged with the task of caring for, maintaining, and building up the Church, which is the body of Christ.  We are to encourage, support, and prepare each other for works of service.  That is what we see in this passage: the Levite clans being prepared for works of service so that the Temple will be maintained and the people of Israel will be ready for the services that God is calling them to.
Now you may read this passage and say, "But the Levite's were in charge of the Holy things of the temple, in moving the temple and building it up wherever God lead them.  We don't have the Holy things and the church is firmly founded on Courtland Ave.  How am I to follow these task?"  Well, we do have the holy things in our possession.  We hold the covenant truths, the law, the word that was written with the finger of God in hands.  You held it; you transported it when you read your reading today.  It's God's word.  We are not to treat it with mindless actions.  We are not to look at it as a coffee table book.  We are to treat it with the same mental attitude, with the same high regard and respect that the Levite's were commanded to treat the temple articles with.  As far as being in charge of the moving of the temple to wherever God leads, this one is easy to see.  This is a task that we are charged with every single day.  So wherever God would have you go each day you are in charge of bringing the temple treasure, the Holy of Holies with you (the word of God).  It might be your home, work, school, a neighbors house, in traffic on the highway, at a restaurant, maybe another state or country on a mission trip, the possibilities are endless.  But wherever God moves you to each day you are called to continue your service in carrying the treasures, the word of God with you so that the church may be built up and ready for further acts of service.  You are to do this while declaring the praises of Him who brought you out of darkness into His wonderful light.
You are a part of the body of Christ therefore you are a part of His Church (The Temple).  As we read in Ephesians 4, we each have been gifted by the grace of God to serve according to His will and the needs He sees.  Why? To build His Church.  We have a task to do and God leads us to where He sees fit for us to serve according to our giftedness.
So I'll ask you again, how did you do this past week as a member of the Royal Priesthood in carrying the Word of God wherever he called you and in doing so declaring the praises of God most high?
What do you need to do differently or what attitudes/actions do you maybe need to ask God to help you work on so that you can be a better servant of the Holy things you possess and are in charge of carrying with you ever day?
Are you carrying God's word with you wherever He leads you each day or do you pick and choose when and where you will bring it?
Like Moses, God speaks to you (through Christ) face to face as a friend.  But those conversations are not meant to be kept a secret between the two of you.  You need to go out and carry them to others who haven't yet learned that they too are part of this amazing Royal Priesthood.
God is on the move, are you moving with Him???
