Ruth 2: 1-4:22

John 4: 43-54

Psalm105: 16-36

Proverbs 14: 26-27

John's Gospel urges us to have Faith in Christ. It isn't enough for us to say we believe that Jesus can take care of our problems. We need to act as if he can. When we are praying about a problem, live as though you believe Jesus can do what he says. We should never put so much space between Christ and ourselves that he can no longer help us. In the story of John, we can see how the Officials faith grew. I mean first he believed enough to ask Jesus to help his son. Then secondly, he believed Jesus' assurance that his son would live and he acted on it. Then lastly the Official and his whole household believed in Jesus. This only shows the magnitude of how faith can grow.

Again faith and courage can be seen in Ruth's story. Ruth was able to make a home on foreign land and was not afraid to get to work. Ruth was brave and went out into the fields, God provided for Ruth. This story stuck with me today as it's what I have needed to hear. I was waiting for God to provide. When in actual fact, He may be waiting for me to take the first step to demonstrate how important my need of getting work is. So today I took the step to apply for work. I took the courage after admitting to my family that it was fear that was holding me back as I was reluctant to apply for a job.                                                                       What is your attitude when the task you have been given is not up to your true potential? The task at hand may be all you can do, or it may be the work God wants you to do. Or, as in Ruth's story it may be to test your character that can open up new doors of opportunity.

At times like these, where some of us may feel like we are stuck or afraid of what's to come, look at Ruth's story. It reminds us that we are part of Gods preparations, just as the events recorded in Ruth were part of Gods preparations for the births of David and of Jesus. Just as Ruth was unaware of this greater purpose of life, we will not know the full purpose and importance of our lives until we are able to look back from the perspective of eternity.

So let's not take moral shortcuts and living for short-range pleasures but live in the faithfulness of God. Know that the significance of your life will extend beyond your lifetime. I am thankful for today's scripture and can only pray that it will have an impact in whatever is going on in your journey.
