first Reading of Genises 1:1 - 3:14

First of "Happy New Year" to all of you who have taken the challenge of reading through God's word this year. No doubt it will be one of the most beneficial choices you will make this year. The biggest thing to keep in mind is to NEVER QUIT! If you fall behind shake it off and keep going. Welcome Aboard and let's enjoys this journey together! I attached the verses in a word document in case you don't have the bible yet.

I loved to re-read Genesis. Primarily because I have spent many hours studying the "Gap theory" of Gen 1:1 - 1:2. To summarize this theory is that there is an undetermined amount of time between these verses (millions of years). In this time period many things supposedly took place. The rise and fall of Satan, the entire geological column as we know it etc... It is said to bridge the gap between the evolutionist and the Bible. Pastor Taylor spoke a few weeks ago and used the verse in
2 Peter 3:8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. People love to twist this around to try and uphold this theory. If they used this verses literally then we can argue that the six days God took to create the world could of been different from a 24 hour period and six days long. We know God used six days to set up our time table our calendar, and our work week. If we use the 2 Peter 3:8 verses this would mean six thousand years we labor and on thousand years we rest, Silly right? We need to see scripture as it is and allow God to work in our hearts as we read though his word, try not to get caught up in the commentaries of people even though they may have a great following and be very intellectual they are still sinful flawed human beings.

I can leave this reading without touching on Adam and Eve, The verses that slap me in the face are 3:8-10 When God was walking through the garden and Adam and Eve hid? God played the game with them by saying "Where are you"? (as if God didn't know). To this day we think we can hid our sin from God. We can do things, think things without Him knowing all. How foolish of us. I sure can see the similarities from Adam and Eve to me.
