1 Cor 15-16, Acts 19

In today's reading, Paul writes about the resurrection of Christ and why it's so significant to our faith. He goes so far as to say that if Jesus had not risen from the dead, then our faith and his teaching is useless. When Jesus arose, He conquered death and sin's power over us. This is why we have hope! Even though we live in a perishable world, death is not the end. Jesus has life after death and so can all who believe and put their trust in Him. If He was still dead, then we would not have hope and our faith would be meaningless.

I think it's amazing how God can turn all of our wrong into right. Chapter 15 says that sin came into the world through one man: Adam. This caused in all of the sin, suffering, and death throughout all history. But just as sin and death came into the world by one man, so was it conquered by one Man. When Jesus died and rose again, it gave us the opportunity to not be ruled by sin and death anymore!

"Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?... Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
