Jeremiah 25, 35

God does what He says he will do.
After many, many warnings, Judah is taken oven by Babylon during Jehoiakim's reign. Reading the Bible in chronological order has definitely put God's patience in perspective. He waited a LONG time to give His people a chance to repent. Unfortunately they did not. His people must be disciplined for their sin. Because God is holy, He can't allow their sin to continue. Thankfully for them and for us today, God never forgets about those He loves, even when He is punishing them. God uses the Babylonians for His purposes, but promises that they will one day pay for their evil deeds.

God values obedience.
God calls attention to a group of people called the Recabites. They refuse to drink wine, build houses, or plant crops because they were instructed by their forefather Jonadab not to do so. If its possible for these people to be faithful and obedient to the teachings of a man, then why is it so difficult for the Israelites to be faithful to GOD, the Creator of the universe?! The Lord blesses the Recabites because they understand the importance of obedience.
